I’ve observed 3 levels of creators (actually 5 but more on that later):
$1k/mo
$5k/mo
$20k/mo
And in this post I want to explain the skills, beliefs, and character traits you need for each level to level up.
Let’s dive into it.
Level 1 — $1k/mo or less
In this stage, you’re a beginner.
This is where all of us start.
A lot of things are holding you back at this stage.
Let’s start with the beliefs.
Beliefs
Here are some of the things people think at stage 1:
“I think I might be too late”
“I need a big audience to make money”
“I’m not sure if I can make money online”
“I’m not expert enough to charge for my knowledge”
You need to break these beliefs if you want to move on to the next level.
This is why X is great.
When you’re on X for a few months or a year, some people that you started with will make a lot of money.
This breaks most of the beliefs above (it helped me break through the $1k/mo barrier).
Skills
There are a lot of skills that are holding you back:
No clear niche or offer
Unable to sell (or afraid to)
Bad writing or content skills
Unsure how to build an audience
The main ones are getting clear on how to write content and how to create an offer around a niche that makes sense for you.

Character traits
Insecure (impostor syndrome)
Distracted (chasing shiny tactics)
A bit naive (no plan to make money)
Anxious (not promoting yourself enough)
If you want to move from level 1 to level 2, those are the beliefs, skills, and character traits that you need to fix.
Let’s talk about level 2 now.
Level 2 — $5k/mo or less
At this stage, you’re close to becoming a full-time creator.
But everything still feels unpredictable.
Let’s talk about the beliefs that are holding you back.
For the sake of simplicity, I’m going to use bullet points from now on (to save you time).
Beliefs
“Scaling means more work”
“I should do everything myself”
“If I sell too much, I’ll annoy my audience”
“I need to keep prices low to make sales”
Skills
Weak email/sales system
Offer is unclear or low-leverage
You have ok content, but not a clear system
You only make money with low-leverage work
Character traits
Fear of delegation
No long-term vision
Overworked but under-leveraged
Afraid to experiment (which keeps you stuck)
If you want to move from level 2 to level 3, those are the beliefs, skills, and character traits that you need to fix.
Let’s talk about level 3 now.
Level 3 — $20k/mo or less
At this level, you’re officially a top 1% creator.
But once you get there, you’ll notice just how far behind you are compared to the biggest creators.
Which is ok, because if you commit to mastery you’ll enjoy the process and you’ll eventually get to the top 0,001% of creators.
Here are the things you need to fix:
Beliefs
“I’ve already done everything I can”
“Making more means working harder”
“People won’t pay premium prices for my content”
“If I grow at my current pace, it’ll take ages to catch up”
Skills
No system for emails and content
Generic ideas and no brand depth
No predictable high-ticket acquisition system
Focused too much on working hard instead of smart
Character traits
Comfortable (no urgency)
Reluctant to reinvent or invest
Not reflective enough (avoids strategic review)
Identity is tied to current level (“I’m a 6-figure creator”)
These are the 3 main levels of creators that I’ve observed in the last few years.

There’s a lot more to each stage but I wanted to keep the email relatively short and I wanted to give you a big-picture overview.
There are also level 4 ($100k/mo) and level 5 ($300k/mo) creators.
To get to stage 4, you basically need to reinvent yourself.
You have to become known for something and you need to have some unique ideas that are genuinely valuable.
I’ve talked to people at this stage, but it will probably take me a few more years to get there so I can’t tell you too much about it yet.
